Whistle Down Wind is a feature film produced by a team of LGBT+ creatives while utilizing an ethical filmmaking framework that aims to transform film production processes towards a place of sustainability, accountability and care.
We completed a short film version of Whistle Down Wind that had a successful festival circuit in 2019. Building on that momentum, our team hosted story workshops in Asheville, NC, and virtually, inviting feedback from the LGBT+ community on the feature script. The insights and emotional responses gathered from these sessions, coupled with the positive reception from festival audiences, strongly validated the decision to expand this project into a feature film.
In July 2024, we wrapped principal photography and are now in post-production on the feature. To date, we've raised the production budget through grants, grassroots fundraising, and a crowdfunding campaign. To complete post and prepare for our festival run, we are seeking additional contributions and funding. The film is fiscally sponsored by Fractured Atlas, so all monetary donations are fully tax deductible. Your continued support can play a crucial role in bringing this vision to life, ensuring that the voices and stories we've been so passionate about are fully realized on the big screen.
